Gabe 'Kaps' Off A Shortened Home Stand By Jeff Savage
While the Red Sox are still shakey in the bullpen, they have not ruled out picking up more offense. They showed that when they added former Texas and Colorado outfielder, Gabe Kapler. Kapler was given his unconditional release from the rockies on the 20th of June. By Saturday, Kapler was already winning over the Boston fans. In his first game for the Red Sox he was 4-5, falling just a home run away from the cycle. "It was special to have them give me the kind of support I really haven't received," Kapler said. "It was a little overwhelming. At the same time, the adjective I would use would be gratitude. That was the feeling I had." Unfortunately, the Sox squandered a lead in that game and lost.
Gabe was back at it on Sunday when he went 3-4. Kapler, who needed the home run for the cycle on Saturday, started early and got the home run out of the way in his first at bat on Sunday. He went on to add another home run, as well as a single to help lift the Sox over the Marlins, 11-7. |
